South Mumbai highlights: from the Gateway of India to Oval Maidan
If you only have a few hours in Mumbai, this is your tour. In under two kilometres you go from the city's most famous monument to the bustle of Colaba Causeway, a 1933 Art Deco cinema, the museum everyone still calls the Prince of Wales, and a restored synagogue. It ends at Oval Maidan, where Victorian Gothic and Art Deco face each other across the grass, both on the World Heritage list. Go in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat, and from June to September carry an umbrella: it is monsoon season.
