What to eat

Flavours of Stockholm

The dishes you can’t leave without trying, and the classic spots that have been serving them for years.

Wallenbergare

A patty of finely minced veal bound with egg yolk and cream, coated in breadcrumbs and fried in butter, served with mash, peas and lingonberries. Its name is attributed to the Wallenberg banking family, and it is one of the gems of Swedish home cooking.

Where to try it

Fried Baltic herring

Strömming, small Baltic herring, opened butterfly-style, breaded and fried, served with mashed potatoes, melted butter and lingonberries. It is Stockholm's fish par excellence: humble and delicious.
